Night clubs starts at about 11.00 p.m., running to about 4 am.
Before that, the happy hour aperitifs provides a fairly start to the evening, from about 18.00 on.
It can provide an alternative to dinner at the price of a cocktail (€ 5-10), with popular,
commercial and Latin music providing a club-lounge atmosphere.
The hot spots for nightlife are the Navigli canal district; Corso Como;
Porta Romana; the Isola district, behind the Porta Garibaldi railway station;
and the Corso Sempione area with Via Piero della Francesca.
Hotels are becoming focal points for nightlife. Hotel Diana Majestic on Viale Piave has long
been a classic for aperitifs, and more recent arrivals on the scene are the Executive Lounge
at Hotel Executive, Via Sturzo (opposite the Garibaldi railway station), and the very central
Bulgari Hotel. The most recent opening was the Ice Bar in Piazza Gerusalemme, the second
such venue in Europe after the prototype in Stockholm, the Jukkasjarvi Ice Hotel.
All public venues are now entirely non-smoking, unless there are specially-equipped and suitably
isolated parts of the interior.
